Care for the Elder Citizens

The people of India revere their elder citizens, from a cultural and traditional standpoint, but they are behind most of the world when it comes to taking care of the elder citizens. The relationship elders have within the family is changing, as is the dynamics of the family unit, including mothers, fathers and children, in addition to the family elders. With both parents working, the care of the elderly has become a great concern. Families are busy with a variety of obligations, which accounts for most of the change in family dynamics.

Smile Charitable Trust will soon launch a program to bring about awareness of the plight of elderly citizens and recognize those citizens as a valuable resource that can still make great contributions to, not only the family, but to society in general. This gives the seniors the opportunity to remain active, both physically and mentally and interact with a variety of age groups and be part of any solution necessary to improve life for everyone.
